Willie Nelson, from Abbott, Texas, rose to prominence on the country music scene towards the end of the 1960’s and contributed to the “outlaw country” subgenre, which challenged the conservatism of country music. He has written over 2500 songs and has released close to 300 albums. Nelson has received countless Grammy’s and numerous American Music Awards and Country Music Awards.
